Thirty-Three

The joy my children get from my birthday is something I was not expecting.  There was great anticipation for the entire week leading up to the big day.  There were lots of whispers and secret card making, Quinn even made me a card at school that she hid in her room.

The four of us spent the day together just enjoying each others company, we laughed and discovered and it could not have been a better day.  One of the things I have learned in the last year is to just stop, simply slow down and enjoy the little things with my family.  There are so many things that can take over and dominate your time but there is nothing more important to me then my family.  My girls are my everything and I want their memories of growing up to be filled with giggles and love, its not about money ... its about time.

We made our way to the Science and Technology Museum for the first time and it was a blast.  Thanks to my wonderful sister for the passes!!  There were so many things to touch and discover, and all the phone oh my they were in heaven.

My day was filled with Birthday kisses and let me tell you it was the BEST part of my day, of course I stole those kisses whenever I could.

I am in love with this kitchen

After the museum we had lunch and that was kind of a disaster so on the way home we made a mad turn into a park just to try to get the girls some fresh air.  But man was it cold, and windy and oh so funny.  We laughed so hard as we ran from one play structure to another trying to find shelter from the wind.  Since we were at the beach we had to go and see the water and the waves, Aisley was not a fan of the cold, but on the up side we found a stage that was perfect for a birthday show.  Quinn quickly took over and Aisley and I were her backup dancers while she sang and danced in front of us.

I had a lovely dinner at my mother in laws house and we were then treated to another show by Quinn and Aisley.  There was a play, songs and some crazy good dance moves.  Aisley plays the part of SnowWhite like a pro, and Quinn's "old hag" voice was beyond impressive.

Note the missing icing on the side of the cake, Craig just had to have a taste

take a bow

The girls stayed for a sleepover so Craig and I could go out for a drink and have a long peaceful sleep.  The next morning Craig went straight to work on the deck we are building and me .. how did I spend my time with no kids .... why I steam cleaned the carpets what else would I have done :)

I am so looking forward to 33, seeing as 3 is my lucky number I know this is going to be an amazing year.  I have lots of plans and lots of changes in mind but through it all my number one goal will be to remember to stop and take it all in.  Time goes by so fast and my babies are growing so quickly I don't want to miss a minute of it.

Welcome Baby Girl

On April 17th at 7:48pm my sister and her husband welcomed their daughter Kylie Lorelai Alison to the world.  Let me tell you she is 8pounds 8ounces of pure cuteness.  Quinn has been over the moon excited about meeting her newest cousin, so this afternoon her and Aisley picked out some pretty dresses and got the cards that they had made and we hurried off to the hospital so we could give some kisses and cuddles to Kylie.  Her big brother, Grandma and Grumpy were already there and I was happy to steal her away from Grandma and snuggle with the sweet little Kylie.  Quinn was next and although she was a little hesitant she climbed up in the chair and put her arms out to hold her new little cousin.  No way was Aisley going to hold her, she didn't really like Mommy holding her, but she did take a close look so that is a step in the right direction.  The feeling of holding a new little life in your arms is like no other, I could have held her all night.

Welcome to our family Kylie we love you so much already!

Time to Play

Yesterday we had a blissful day of playing and exploring, learning and getting dirty.  We fed birds and geese, although they were some bossy geese who chased off all others that tried to come over.  Not to worry Grandma threw a whole piece of bread that landed gracefully with a thud right into the bossy little things back ... karma baby.  The kids watched as chickadees landed on our hands and picked away at the bird seed we held out for them.  Neither Aisley or Liam wanted to have a bird land on them but they loved watching them land on us.

Aisley's expressions in these pictures makes me laugh, the amazement of watching a bird close up.

the birds wont eat our bread so kendra can have it

last day as a family of 3

Later in the afternoon a storm in and we got some heavy rain.  So after dinner we decided to meet up again and go for a puddle walk.  We searched until we hit the jackpot.  This puddle was huge and deep and muddy ... everything a puddle should be.  Quinn ended up having to walk home in her socks because her boots were so wet and muddy, it was a great way to end the day.

And now we are all sitting and waiting not so patiently for the phone call today to say that Liam has a little sister.
